Vault Integrity Check

Description

With the latest release of Endpoint Cloud (version 3.0.5 and later), the Vault has a build-in integrity check. This ensures reliability and early detection of issues related to the Vault.

Purpose

  • Accuracy and reliability to ensure consistent data.
  • Data Recovery to ensure searchability and recovery of data.
  • Performance Optimizations by ensuring a healthy performant database.
  • Error detection to assist in finding problems before there is an issue.
  • Compliance by ensuring that data is healthy and can be recovered.
  • Enhanced Decision Making by increasing the confidence in the data integrity.

How does it work?

The Vault config has a built in schedule that will kick off the weekly integrity check automatically at 2am on Saturday mornings. No user or administrator intervention is required. The integrity check will check through the database for any inconsistencies.

What should Administrators expect?

Disk utilization and memory usage will increase on the Vault server during the run, but the integrity check has built-in automatic throttling to prioritize performance for user backups or restores.

How long does it run?

It depends on the current hardware an its disk performance, but typically a few hours per TB of data.

How are user devices affected?

There is no impact to user backups, restores and DLP.

What are the outcomes of the Integrity check?

The vault log file will show the following entry with the time it took if successfully completed:

Successfully completed object-store integrity-check for tenant

On the Endpoint Cloud Cloud Portal, the last run time will show under Datastore Health under the Vault Health Alerts.
