Choose which File Types are "Global Files"
You can use the Global Files feature to create collections of file types. It makes it much quicker to choose which files are backed up, as instead of having to choose each file type separately for each location, you can choose a Global Files collection.
For example, by default, each Policy has a Microsoft Office files collection of Global Files. This collection includes files saved in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. When you choose which file types should be backed up, you can choose the Global Files collection instead of having to select each MS Office file type separately.
You can use the Global Files settings on a Policy to:
- Add or remove file types from the different Global Files collections
- Create a new collection for different types of files. For example, you may want to create a new collection that contains the file types for your proprietary software.
If you want to exclude file types from the Global Files, see Exclude Files and Folders from Back Up and Protection.
Change an Existing Collection of Global Files
If you change the file types that are included in Global Files, the changes apply to all Policies. Exclude Files and Folders from Back Up and Protection.
