Will hostname changes update on cloud?
Short answer: Yes!
Endpoint Cloud tracks devices using more than just their hostname; it uses a unique device ID that combines user information and hardware details. So when a device is renamed in Windows, Endpoint Cloud will automatically reflect that change. All existing snapshots and data remains available.
What if the old name still shows?
- Restart the device after the computer name has been renamed in Windows.
- Make sure the device has Internet access once restarted.
- Make sure the Cibecs Discovery Agent Service is running.
Once the Discovery Agent reconnects with Endpoint Cloud, the new hostname will be reflected automatically. There is no need to reinstall, or discover the device.
