Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) - Overview

What is 2FA?

Two-factor authentication (2FA), also referred to as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security measure that requires users to provide two forms of verification to access their accounts. In addition to their usual password, users must also provide a second factor, such as a code sent to their mobile device.

This additional layer of security helps protect accounts from unauthorized access, even if the password is compromised. By combining something you know (a password) with something you have (a device), 2FA significantly enhances account security.

2FA in Endpoint Cloud

With Endpoint Cloud, you can enable 2FA not only to safeguard your login credentials but also to enhance security for system changes or actions. This is achieved by requiring a verification code before any modifications can be made.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) will be required for the following actions:

  • Secure Remote Restore (New!)
  • Wipe
  • Revoke / Unrevoke
  • Single or Multi-device delete
  • Team delete (which deletes the devices in that team)
  • Moving devices between teams
  • Deleting a Policy
  • Promoting an Administrator to a Security Officer
  • Deleting an Administrator
  • Changing an existing user's email address
  • Vault detachment
  • Connector deletion
  • Reset password
  • Register the Vault or Connector
