Does Cibecs encryption work with OneDrive?

Question

Does Cibecs encryption work with OneDrive?

Answer

Yes.

OneDrive uses a local cache mechanism.  The Operating System has access to the local copies of the files only and they are treated as any other file and folder on the local machine.  The Cibecs Agent is able to identify the OneDrive configuration (where the files are stored) and encrypts the files and folders locally.

OneDrive then synchronizes these files and folders in an unencrypted state to the OneDrive online repository.

Note

OneDrive Files and Folders that are encrypted locally will still be accessible in an unencrypted format on other synchronized devices.
