Performing a Secure Remote Restore
Secure Remote Restore from Endpoint Cloud ensures quick, secure, and reliable access to critical user data. Follow these steps to initiate and complete a restore:
1. Navigate to Protection on Endpoint Cloud and select the device requiring a restore.
2. Click on the Restore icon located at the bottom of the side panel.
The Restore option is only available to Security Officers.
2FA Authentication
3. Authenticate using Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), then click Restore.
Secure Remote Restore requires Vault version 4.0 or later. For assistance, see Upgrade Endpoint Cloud on-premise components
Browser Trust
If this is your first Secure Remote Restore attempt, you may see a "Failed to connect to Vault" prompt. You will need to allow your browser to connect to the vault and trust the connection. See steps below.
4. Click on the link provided in the prompt window under "Step 1" as seen in the image below.
5. Depending on the browser, a warning will be displayed asking permission to proceed.
- In Google Chrome, click on Show Advanced and then Proceed
- In Microsoft Edge, Show Advanced and Continue.
- In Mozilla Firefox, click on Advanced and Accept Risk and Continue.
- Once the certificate is trusted, it will show that a successful connection to the vault was made.
Select Files to Restore
6. From the restore screen, select the device and backup snapshot date for which the restore is required.
7. Select the files or folders that are required as seen in the image below
8. Click on Restore to recover data to the default download location for the browser.
Monitoring Restore Progress
The restore progress window will appear and shows restore information like the:
- Overall restore progress
- User name
- Device name
- Number of files restored
- Restored size vs total restore size
- Restore start date/time
- Duration of the restore
- Transfer speed
- You can close the restore window and continue using Endpoint Cloud.

To reopen the Secure Remote Restore - In Progress window, click the Restore icon again.
Email Notifications
All Administrators and Security Officers will receive email notifications when a restore begins and when it completes.

The reason for sending restore start and completion emails to all Administrators and Security Officers is primarily to maintain transparency and accountability.
These notifications:
- Keep the administrative team informed about sensitive operations involving user data.
- Enable quick detection and investigation if an unauthorized or unexpected restore is initiated.
- Ensure coordinated communication among team members, reducing duplication of efforts or confusion.
- Provide a clear audit trail for compliance and security purposes.
